Default Gun safe in LR3

So who's put a gun safe in their LR3? I'm looking for a secure place to stash a concealed-carry handgun before going into places where carry isn't allowed. What safe/vault did you use, and where did you put it?

One of the drop ins for the center console would be ok.

THAT is a really good question.
My employer won't let me carry concealed in the office, and it is located in a bad area of town (in fact a security study showed we were a low target for terrorist because it would be too dangerous to spend time in the area figuring out how to attack us) and I am always worried that someone will break into the car and steal the handgun while sitting in the parking lot.

I have the cooler in in my 2006 SE and actually use it, so that option is out for me.
If you don't use the third row seating much, so I suppose you could put a box mounted on the floor in the foot well there under the seat portion when it is folded down and it would generally be hidden by the middle row seat. I have considered removing the third row seats and making a lockable storage area in the back, ( it could hold a long gun as well as a pistol), but it would be only on one side because I need room for the fridge on the left but I am too busy catching up on the maintenance schedule that seems to have been ignored for the last 10 years. In the mean time, I am retrofitting my ham radio, GMRS radio and cell phone amplifier into the 2006 while I wait to repair the front diff.

Like you, I am still looking.
Keep us informed in what you come up with, it might be helpful to the rest of us.

Jeff

Well the knee panel pulls down form the top really easily if needed. I wonder if there is just enough room around the steering column for some sorta safe.
