Default Head gasket time

Bought a new HSE HD for my wife, decent price at $3500, but...

after doing all all kinds of work and rebuilding cooling system, it started to have some erratic temp issues, sure enough leak down test showed HG blown at #7.

day one:

photos are not loading, I’ll try later

What else are you going to do to it while it’s down/apart? What’s the mileage on the motor?

Think the blown head gasket was caused by overheating?

I believe so.

A different non everheated set of heads are at the machine shop and will be used. I’ll put a straight edge on the block before installing.

Default Heads off

Gasket looked fine on #7, but as these are metal gaskets I didn’t think I would find a problem. There were some marks on the head, but could have been made during removal.

Looking at picture #2 and 3 now I know why I could not reach down or find an attachment of the coolant hose.I have changed all of them in the engine bay but that one, that connects to a bleeder TEE.Hmm.. How involving is to take an exhaust manifold ?

I believe you mean intake manifold. It’s like 10 bolts and all the injectors connectors. That is after the throttle body is off.

exhaust manifolds came off with and is going back on with the heads.
