Touché.Have you tried removing the coolant lines at the firewall and flushing/back flushing there? Seems like that would unclog it.

Yes, tried that. The tech at the local independent rover shop also tried with his own LR3 that had the same problem. Even went as far as filling the system with CLR solutions etc to try and break it down then using a power flusher to backflush. No luck.

I wonder if hooking up a good strong wet vac would clear out the debris?

I only say that because I have a rental property and the tenant flushed one of those bleach discs down the toilet instead of putting it in the tank. The thing wedged itself in the trap of the toilet.
No amount of plunging or snakeing would dislodge it.
Last resort thought of the wet vac. Put a good seal around the hose and it sucked out the disc.

Sorry to hear of these issues. The one thing I will not tolerate in a land rover is a bad heater core. My POS project white 5 speed D1 has an amazing heater... reverse lights and several other items are another story.

Good luck with the work and bleed it right when you do.

Just got the bad news of a bad heater core today. Not looking forward to either paying or doing the job. Oh well

When the LR3's heater core goes ****, does a bunch of white "smog" enter the cabin like it did in 1989 with my Bronco II?

I hope delormea is still active....

I was wondering if when the flush was tried if there was any fluid moving through the core at all? I only ask because I just had mine done and there was no comments about it not pushing fluid through... done with 90 psi shop air. still not getting full heat but still have to investigate the blend door actuator.
