Here’s a Weird One
I don’t know… Texas sun? When I bought it, there was a sticker that said something like, “this paint has been treated with a ceramic something, don’t wax or something else.”. I can’t remember. Whatever it was it didn’t work.
The underside on this 06 is rust free, unlike my 07 that lived in DC and South Dakota before I ended up with it. The clear coat on the 07 recently failed in with a large bubbles that filled with water.

The paint on mine is slightly chipped and scratched in places. As for the underside ….let’s not go there 💀👀 eventually I’ll have to have someone replace (weld) at least new sills, if it fails the annual inspection, or scrap the vehicle.
We just repaired the paint on my friends LR4, same location. His is some shade of Bronze. Covered the whole rig with thin painters plastic, cut it from the windshield to the rear roof glass, and from side to side and taped it all down. Hit it very gently with 600 grit on a cheap 5”orbital sander from Harbor Freight. Gentle is key. I can’t stress this enough, if you burn through the color coat it won’t work. Sprayed it with Automotive clear coat from Autozone. You can not see the repair. Took maybe 3 hours. If I did it again I’d probably use 800 grit paper.
Wish I could do it to mine but the primer is exposed.
