Default Hitch receiver compatibility

Hey guys - I have a 2006 lr3. Recently bought a land rover hitch receiver that came off a 2007 lr3. Last night I was struggling to get it to fit on my truck. It looks like my truck was involved in a rear fender bender at some point. So the fitment issues might be caused by the accident.

Does anyone know if land rover changed the hitch receiver design between 2006 and 2007 model years?

The land rover quick release hitch should work with 2005-09 LR3 no issue.

When you turn the locking mechanism, is the steel shaft supposed to completely retract?

This one is sitting about half an inch proud of the cast iron piece.

FYI - I have part number knb500023.

Got it to work. The locking mechanism was hanging up, got it to open up all the way and it fits good.
