You just installed one that has it in the base plate end.

I never said K&N were bad and would wreck your engine. Just that they are over priced.

I don't think, that 10 bucks on amazon is too much, but maybe it is just me.That , compared to a dealer's Cooper filter is a money saver.

We covered the power steering posibilty for the smoke and I now have a much better understanding about the oil filters........ But what was the outcome with the code?

Yeah, everyone has different price points. For me, paying 100% more for something just doesn't cut it.

I use Wix 51515 and the cheapest the equivalent K&N sells for is $10 online. I buy the Wix locally for $4.50.

Sorry guys, been a busy week and have only had about 15 minutes to look the car over since posting this. I double checked the oil levels. Right in the middle of max and min, so its not an overfill issue. I took the car to Oreilly's and had them read the CEL. System Too Lean Bank 1 and System Too Lean Bank 2. Top fix is cleaning the MAF which I plan on trying out today. I also used different gas station on my way to the beach last friday. Im thinking maybe the fuel is crap so I put some Royal Purple Max-Boost in the tank, hopefully that will work through the system and enrich the fuel. After that I will use the normal fuel and run some Max-Clean through there. Im hoping that these will take care of the CEL. Will keep everyone updated. As always I appreciate the help from everyone here.

PS. I used K&N for my last oil filter. Seemed to do great, the Wix filter was $1 cheaper. I went almost a year without an oil change using Royal Purple and the K&N filter. Although I kept the car topped off with Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer. Also I didnt even put 10k on the car. I dont think I will do that again however. With the miles we put on it probably twice a year will do it.

Well, I cleaned the MAF which didn't take care of it right away, but after letting the MAX BOOST do its thing and filling up with premium from Costco the light went away. I'm assuming it was just bad fuel.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
