In all seriousness, what would you call it? If you start with a Disco and it still looks like a Disco, isn’t it still a Disco? A (highly, horribly, distastefully, perfectly, insert your adjective here) modified Disco, sure. I don’t know what else you could call it.

I guess my heavily modified BMW m3 is no longer an m3 but a modified BMW? Your argument doesn't work, and Id venture to say 9/10 automotive enthusiasts would disagree with you, not trying to be antagonistic or rude but after 25 years in the modified car scene its pretty much accepted that by changing parts, driveline, etc does not change the original chassis designation.
Its DNA is still LAND ROVER
Been around modified cars much?[/]
Once again, I didn't say it was not a Land Rover, it's just not a Discovery anymore, in my opinion. My experience around modified cars is not pertinent to the discussion. It would help; however, if you actually read my premise.
I said it above and I will say it again: yes still a LAND ROVER. No longer a Discovery.

On the flip side...swapping engines and badges doesn't make a 3 series an M3
I hate when people claim they have an M or STi and when confronted they say well I did a full swap

You aren't READING!!!
Not "modified BMW." MODIFIED M3.
I mean this borders on asinine. You are saying that, if you take a D2, lift it 5" on portals with lockers, drop a 5.0 liter in it, supercharged and put it on 35" tires....you can roll up to a stock D2 and say, with a straight face, "oh yeah those are both the same." .Whaaaaaaat?!?!?!
