Default I need help LR3 won’t start

Went on vacation with wife, daughter was driving LR3 while we were gone. No issues before we left other than Low Coolant Level, which I have read occurs because the sensor in the coolant tank defaults over time. Forgot to mention it’s a 2006 LR3. Anyway, daughter calls to say “Larry” won’t start. We get home, go to friends house where Larry died and the dash says “Reduced Engine Performance “. Get it towed home, have mechanic come to house for evaluation. He says it’s the starter. 100% sure. While mechanic is at the house we get the following dash messages, “Transmission Fault Limited Gears Available, HDC Fault System Not Available, Reduced Engine Performance Low Coolant Level ( as always). After putting in a remanufactured Pure Energy Starter, and charging the battery, I cross my fingers and hope Larry comes to life. Nope, still dead. However, the dash system check no longer produces any of the read outs other than Low Coolant Level. I can use any advice and appreciate any suggestions. My heart is with Larry and I’d love to resurrect him. By the way, my daughter gave it the name Larry.

Is it cranking over and won't fire or not cranking at all? I am assuming of course you have checked to make sure there is coolant.

It’s not cracking or turning over. Just “click, click”. Yes there is Coolant at in Larry.

Sounds like a starter.

the first fault of reduced performace is a misfire.

the other faults might be from the battery dying from all the trying to start sessions.

With a tough time starting AND a misfire, could it be an ignition coil??

PS - after you get this sorted, you really should get a new coolant expansion tank and fix that constant low coolant alert....because one day you may really be low on coolant and could dismiss the condition as being false, and then you over-heat Larry and kill him.

First problem is no crank, starter. After that's fixed he can see if its actually misfiring and address that issue.

Replaced starter. Extremely difficult btw. Recharged battery. No reduced engine performance code. Only code is Low Coolant as always. What could I have done wrong or what am I missing?

Are all the wiring connections firmly seated on the starter? Did you test the old starter to confirm it was bad?
