If the Bolt pattern matches, does that mean they will fit?
Hey all. 2008 LR3 SE.
I'd like to upgrade my OE 18" wheels/tires to 19" from another LR or RR model. The bolt pattern on my OE wheels is 5x120.
While I'm shopping for take-offs from other models, as long as the bolt pattern is listed as 5x120, they will fit, right? Or does that not guarantee it??

Correct that 18" wheels are better because of increased tire sidewall.
For other rims, the bolt pattern, bore size and offset all need to match. The offset is less important but on the LR3 it's fairly significant considering the minimal clearance between the inner sidewall of the tire and the control arms (and wiring harness on the driver's side).
There are wheels that fit; not sure about 19s but I found some ugly 18s that fit (that I later sold) and I have a "get me home spare" on an 18 that came off a BMW X5. That fits too.
You just have to dig into the numbers and start doing the research.

Bolt pattern is only one concern regarding acquisition of alternative wheels. I guess it comes down to what will the 3 be used for.
If the 3 was just a show car to be trailered around, I suppose anything would be OK, even the dozens of Land Rover style wheels I see on eBay.
For on and off road 4x4 type use, the load rating being at least 940 kg is the most significant consideration and then after that, offset. I would think that you would want to keep with the factory geometry and stick with a +53 or 53P for on road highway driving but your insurance company will only care about that and load rating after an accident.
Given the that 3 is the heaviest of any Land Rover or Range Rover produced, to remain within the parameters, you would pretty much have to stick with LR3 or LR4 factory spec wheels. The blokes in Australia import from England, a line of 18" steel wheels that meet/exceed the spec but for you that is not an option as you desire larger than 18 inch. For them it is a question of no roads, not quite the same as off road.
FFRR and not all RRS wheels meet the 940 kg factory rim LR3/4 load rating.
Then of course there is the question of tyre load range, and as with all things Land Rover, something rather obscure, and not anything most people have any knowledge of. Regardless Land Rover calls up the XL load range for the 3 and 4. That really limits your tyre selection.
In any case, you will have no problem finding OEM 19" or larger Land Rover factory rims for your 3, and as I said, selling your 18" will be easy. I see on eBay only one single 18" LR3 rim for sale so your four rims alone will quadruple that which is currently available.

I paid $1000 for all 4 with 0 miles and OE Pirelli tires installed. They are on the way to me. I won't be putting them on my LR3, however, as I am SHOCKED to learn that the LR3 weighs 1300+ lbs more than the Range Rover. ?!?!?! And I do not want any issues with wheels that are not rated for the LR3's load.
I suppose I will just turn around and try to sell these when I receive them to try to make some of my money back.
I might still update my wheels, but will do so with wheels from a later LR3 or LR4, NOT from a Range Rover.
