Default Ignition Coil Pack Bolt Broke

Hey all, went to swap the ignition coils on my ‘08 LR3 and the bolt broke in half as I was trying to remove it. Does anyone know if you can use an “easy out” tool or something similar to get a bolt that is broken in half out of where you screw it in to install ignition coil packs? Also, does anyone know of the part number that goes to that screw? Is it something you can pick up at the hardware store? Here’s a photo of an example of what I’m talking about.

Thanks!

First of all, ACE has everything. Just have to find it. The p# is probably discontinued. The stud extractors work wonders if you can get a grip on them. Or vise grips depending on the space. Depends on how stuck it is. Just have to be creative.

Was able to find the part on Atlantic British, $5 for the bolt. No luck with the bolt extractor tool I purchased from Home Depot, planning to give it another shot tomorrow morning.

Gotta love AB. I'm always amazed how much stuff they have . Keep at it. How much material do you have to work with?

Me too, they really have everything you could ever need! Pretty much no material at all, gonna try and drill into it tomorrow and pull it out that way.

Always start with a punch to keep that hole centered, made that mistake too many times. Easy outs and reverse drill bits can do wonders. Also soak that thing in penetrant. Best of luck.

Soak in penetrating oil center punch it and a reverse drill bit would hopefully do the trick

Reverse bits, love the concept but have yet to have one that actually spun out the broken bolt!

I would just drill out with slightly undersized bit smack down the center. Once through the thin remnant of the bolt will spin out.

If you end up messing up the threaded brass insert, you can always pull out and epoxy another in its place. Worst case scenario you change out the entire valve cover.
