Default Inner tie rod??

just got word from the shop that my 05 LR3 with 30k needs a right inner tie rod end (has some play)... after looking at the part on atlanticbritish, it does look a bit "foreign". i've done tie rods before on my D1 and such... but is this something i should/could tackle on the d3?? anyone have a DIY thread out there in rover world?

i've read that some don't think this is the issue at 30k, and i don't have any clunking sound or noise from the front end... just a little steering wheel shake. i just put new tires on to pass inspection and the previous ones (from previous owner) were pretty worn on the edge.

i'd rather not pay my local shop $600 to do the job that a $30 part would take!

do you think maybe just an alignment would be the right remedy?

LR3s seem to eat tie rods. This is a straightforward DYI, nothing special here. You will want to do the outers as well (balljoint end). Simiply remove old balljoint, remove outer tie rod, vice grip the inner out (they thread in but the ones I removed had no wrench point). Install the new parts.

Yes excellent point. Front end needs alignment after monkeying around with tie rods.
