Default Installing CJB

Hello, I’m got the treaded 3 amigos faults , HDC Transmission and suspension. I replaced the tcm , replaced the battery and brake light switch. Want to check the connections and the pins of the CJB. This looks like a nightmare to disconnect and connect back. Any tips or suggestions how to out this back? TIA. I have a 2006 LR3 V8.

You need to read the codes. Do you have a GAP tool (IIDTool) or something similar? Any water ingress issues?

Hmmm....none of those mean a lot to me. Maybe clear them all and see which, if any, come back....???

What about water ingress? Is either floorboard (passenger or driver) damp?

Default Installing CJB

am following this topic with interest! Someone far more knowledgeable than I am should step in.... but I am under the impression the TCM is not "plug and play" when you change it.

No water signs on the tcm plugs or inside the module. I do need to see the plugs and the CJB to see if there are any signs of corroded contacts. Need to remove the cjb

A bad cluster is possible. Clusterfix.net repairs them and keeps your odometer. It’s not cheap, but if you check their website, you’ll see similar symptoms. My 07 needed repair. I have not had to do my 06.

...and how about damp floorboards? There are a lot of wiring looms that run under those areas; water sitting under the carpet for prolonged periods of time can lead to corrosion and/or severed wire connections.

Thanks for the suggestion. I fixed my leaking sunroof and drain on the summer. I do not have wet floors but I will check the wires near there as well.

Per GAP Diagnostic's email to me earlier today, the TCM is not swappable (along with most ECU's), but can be programmed via their "Fast Lane Service" -https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/shop/fast-lane-service/

"Most of them [ECU's] are VIN locked and cannot be swapped from one vehicle to another. The transmission is an exception. It can be done via fast lane."

But, first, you might switch back to your old TCM. Look for corrosion inside the old TCM and clean connectors and give it a try. Check out Rene Clausen's video here:

To remove the CJB, follow this video:
It's a pain to get back in though. Start within the rear connectors, then bottom, and then front in that order. The back plugs are the worst, especially the one furthest away.

I would also diagnose the ODBII port to check for proper voltage, grounds, and especially your CAN Bus, which for me caused "lost communications" errors. You'll need an inexpensive multimeter.
