Default Instrument Cluster Flickering

Hello, everyone!

I recently bought a 2007 LR3. Today, I noticed both the lights in the gauges and the gauges themselves were flickering on and off. The gauges would all go to zero, and the screen would go black. It was intermittent, and didn’t seem to have much rhyme or reason. It was after a car wash, but I’m hoping some water didn’t cause it 🙃. Any thoughts? Video attached

I'd say the cluster is dying which is fairly common and not a cheap repair.

Replacement clusters themselves are cheap. Usually $100 on eBay. But they have to be programed for the vehicle, thats were buying the GAP tool comes in. That costs a little more but easily pays for itself. First though, I would remove it. The behavior sounds a bit like something is not tightly plugged in.

I think you can send the cluster to Xemodex for repair. You’d need to call to verify.

GAP tool may pay for itself on this one, and will be cheaper in the long run.
