Default Interior refinish

If you've seen my A/C expansion valve thread, you know that my interior (front anyways) is gutted.

Think I'm going to totally redo the interior while I have this all apart...well, re-color it.
Stumbled across www.colorbondpaint.com and it sure looks promising.
I'm not trying to color match anything, just change it all over to white or really light gray with dark or color accents.
Anybody have any experience with this?

As for replacing the janky dashboard, best I found was a used dash on eBay...they want $400.
I'm leaning heavily towards a cover option.

I have not used that brand, but have done similar a long time ago, for my 68 beetle - in high school, doing a full resto-mod

I got some used GTI Recaro Seats for cheap (maroon, but wanted them to be black) - the rear seat bottom even fit perfectly, the bolsters looks awesome in there.
I had a full interior reupholster done, to black, but some bits remained maroon so I did the vinyl/plastic spray dye, as I was cheap/poor.

As I recall, it turned out better than I could have hoped or expected. The color went on all the bits nicely - a variety of materials
Some rubbery based (forward tilt lever and trim slot, recline wheel), some vinyl covered - similar to LR3 glove box, and some hard plastic (lower hinge cover)

The softer materials held up better - even the ones I handled often (seat tilt access to back, and recline wheel)
The harder plastic/grained materials were more easily scratched - likely from shoes, as those bits were down LOW and in the way

Never done any seats tho - especially anything worn/cracked like ours tend to be.
I'd say buy a used or junkyard interior item to test on first tho, before you dive in.

Good luck!

Gonna pass for now on the Coverlay cover. The problem is Coverlay hand trims the airbag cutout all the way out in 2 pieces before shipping. I’m guessing for liability concerns to ensure the cover doesn’t interfere with proper airbag deployment.

The cutout is somewhat crude, and I don’t think it looks much better than the factory airbag dash cracks. This cover adheres with silicone, so once you stick it, you’re committed.

My dash is not really bad yet. I’ll wait until next summer and take another look. If your dash is cracked up pretty good, I think this would be a good option.

Current dash

Dry fit of the Coverlay dash cover.

Yeah, your dash is nothing like the wreck mine is...a crack from cabin to windshield every few inches.
It's like previous owner parked in the direction of the sun on purpose, all the time. LOL
A cover will be a vast improvement.

Thanks for sharing.

I changed to black in my D2 and I used SEM vinyl dye for the center console.
Everything else I swapped out with oem black pieces mainly because i only wnted to paint what I absolutely had too
