Default iPad Dash Mount Install?

has anyone had a custom in-dash install of their iPad in the nav screen space?

my truck doesn't have the nav or phone option, so the nav space is like a cubby hole where i try to shove my phone to use google maps.

every now and then i search forums for an aftermarket upgrade to get nav and bluetooth, but nothing is good fix...it seems that all the inherent miles of fiber optics are rendered useless with any of the solutions i read about.

so...i thought that maybe i should look at what i'm really trying to get:

up-to-date nav
music

my current music set up is an aux cable to my phone, but that's messy, and i don't think i'd ever use anything but my phone or ipad for directions anyway.

it's kinda a basic desire, nothing over-the-top, but i want an in-dash solution...nothing attached to the vents or stand harnesses bolted to the floor.

It's on my to do list. Here are pics and video of someone who mounted an iPad mini - from the Disco 3 forum:

Also just recently someone posted a Bluetooth device that they claim boosted the aux volume:
