Default Key

My four year old has hidden/lost one and the second is acting up. Is there a way to replacement without spending nearly $500 with the dealer (part + programming)?

Thanks!

not really I went thru that my 3yr old got rid of one of mine so I am down to 1
The dealer is the only person who can program it and I beleve they order it programed so you cant even pick one up off ebay and get it progamed and cut. I coudnt even get a blank cut to hide on the vehicle w/o the fob key combo unit.

I'm going through that right now and I paid about $250 for the key and they wanted about $80 to program the key. The only thing is that they have to order the key from LR based on your VIN...Three times it has not worked for one of two reasons...first failure was the cut was incorrect, while the second attempt had the proper cut but would not sync with the car. The final attempt yielded a similar result.

At this point they have decided to order replacement door and ignition sets together with the keys (at their cost). This will take a minimum of 4 visits to the dealer just to get a key (not to mention the $300+ cost)

Is it 250 even if you call land rover yourself to get the cut and fob if you don't go through the dealer because sometims the dealer charges a little extra?
