Default leak

Hi all!

I just came back from a two week vacation and when I pulled the car our the parking spot, I noticed a big patch of what looked like watery oil directly underneath the car. I checked the oil levels and it was normal, and there were no faults or anything when I started up and drove for a bit. Any idea what it could be? I have a 2006 LR3 with 64,000 miles.

Thanks

Well, I took the truck into the place here I get my oil changed, and they said that my front differential gasket is leaking. Any idea how much this is going to cost me?

Could it be a O ring on the diff fill/drain plug or is it the cover on the back side??
Probably wouldn't be a hard job to do yourself. Pull drive shaft and take bolts off. Might need a impact wrench and breaker bar! Oh yeah and biggest requirement, if you don't have a lift, I hope your small and skinny because your going to be under the truck for a while!

There is a replacement front breather cap. The original one allowed pressure build up, and blown seals. You might also consider rebuilding the diff and replacement the bearings as well seeing as you will have to have it halfway apart anyway. You will need to cut the old breather cap off at a 45 degree angle, and slip the new one on. I used a cable tie to secure it.

Here is a thread describing the issue / operation

Here is the LR TSB on the breather

Where can you get this part? My rover doesn't have this done yet and I can't find the part.
