heh, exactly one year after your original post, i am looking at doing exactly the same thing. 50" curved bar, oem rack, etc.

i'm interested in where you mounted the bent brackets to the lr3. do you have pics of that mount point? you said "where the front support legs would go for the expo rack"--did you just unmount the front legs, sandwich the bracket between the legs and the vehicle, and tighten down?
