Left Blinker / Indicator Issue Inside LR3
Hi. Strange issue. 2008 north american LR3 HSE. The green light on the dash, along with the sound inside the car, is 'too fast', when I turn on the left indicator/ blinker. Same symptom as when a Bulb has blown.
However, the 3 places on the outside of the vehicle (front left corner, rear left corner, and front side) are all operating correctly - all bulbs are working, and the flashing sequence is normal (not too fast).
Perhaps I have a bulb that is 'almost' or 'slightly' broken? Throwing an incorrect electrical signal?

FYI, in the event of a bad bulb it will not blink faster outside but it will do as you say on the cluster. I had a rear blink go out and it did just that. So that is normal operation for a bad lamp. I would probably just replace the lamps and see what happens. I tend to replace all exterior lamps once a year anyway as maintenance.
Reporting back - FIXED
Front - LR3 Front Indicator Bulb
Rear - LR3 Rear Indicator Bulb
Sidenote - When it gets a bit warmer I may replace all of the interior bulbs to LED, with a whiter color. Front Fog Lights are also quite 'yellow' - May look into swapping these for whiter bulbs.
Cheers, Simon
- Swapped out both Bulbs. (Front and rear driver side).
- It was actually the Rear Bulb that caused the issue. Perhaps because 'wrong' Bulb was in there? (Bulb that I removed had 2 electrical contact points at base of Bulb, part # 7528. New Bulb had just 1 electrical contact point).
- Both removed Bulbs were very 'discolored' (inside glass and inside bits were quite 'brown'). This may be normal I suppose.
- Didn't research the best Bulbs to buy; wanted to get this done quickly, so I just picked up Sylvania brand from local auto-parts store. Used their cross-ref book to determine what to purchase.
- New Rear Bulb - Sylvania 7506
- New Front Bulb - Sylvania 3457
- Used rubber gloves when handling the new bulbs.
- Used NO-OX-ID A-Special Electrical contact grease on the electrical contact areas.
- Used Dialectic Grease around the electrical connector housings.

I did an LED swap on the interior. I went with these (link below) but dont care for them, they are very cool in color temp and they are also rather dim. So I am going to try another set.
As for fog lights. I need to replace one of mine because of a cracked lens. But I have lamps on standby and I went with traditional yellow. When it comes to fog lights for fog use, warmer color is better. For looks though, I agree that a nice HID look can be attractive. Just not my thing.

I was thinking the same thing...for fog light color. There is conflicting data about it, but I've seen some reports asserting that there is a relationship between color-temperature and retro-reflection in fog. Those reports support what we are saying.
