Default Looking at a Range Rover Sport with the Super Charged Motor, issues?

Good Morning, I am looking at a 2006 Range Rover Sport with the 4.2 ltr. Super Charged Motor. I have casually seen comments on the 4.2 but haven't really paid attention. How is the 4.2 vs. 4.4 re durability maintenance issues, performance, etc. 98k miles. I have no maintenance records or background on the truck. Looks exceptionally clean, San Diego car. (probably a soccer parent vehicle). Thanks Phil

4.2 is only slightly less reliable than the 4.4 based on the extra component(SCer).

It also have active cornering or stability control(forgot the exact name) which is basically hydraulic sway bars. In addition to larger front brakes.

I can't say there are any issues with that motor, but if reliability is what you are after and not performance, normally aspirated would be a better call.

Thank you Amigo, I will see what happens, it needs a panel and a bumper replaced. Parts aren't as readily available as parts for the LR3. An extra 100 hp would be fun, right up to the first fuel fill up, especially here in California, gas tax goes up .12 cents a gallon on Nov. 1. I have heard that the active suspension is incredible. Nothing like a 6,000 lbs. sports car...... All the best. Phil

Well, the auction came and went and the truck went for $4350, more than I wanted to pay. Needed a fender, a bumper, both headlights and maybe a hood. I sourced all of the parts and could have picked everything up for a decent price, but at the end of the day, I didn't need another Rover and there wasn't enough room in it to make any money. The engine was probably fine, but the coolant tank was empty. Probably had something go through the radiator in the accident and drained the coolant. I am continually surprised on how much these vehicles bring, especially being 10 plus years. old. Thanks for the input. Phil
