I have an 05 lr3 limited edition with 22" wheels with a 285/35/22 tyre on it. Its my partners car to run all the kids about in. She's constantly kerbing the wheels and ripping chunks of rubber off the side wall. Shes blown a hole in the sidewall before and I've had to replace tyres.

I want to change all 4 tyres for something with a bigger side wall but my options are slim I have found a 285/55/22 which is 34" the 285/35 is 29.9". Should I be bothered about the tyre diameter being bigger and do you think that the 285/5/ will have enough sidewall to stop her taking chunks out of it?

I do have 2 spare 18" wheels that I could get another 2 off and then get stock tyres with plenty of sidewall but I like the look of the lr3 as it is.

 

34's would take some trimming of the body seams fender and plastics. removal of the bolt on frame piece at the back of the front wheel well. Relocation of the rear hvac lines if fitted and need lift rods.

 

Ditch those 22's, dont know why anyone would put then on anything that is offroad orientated.
