Today I changed the belts on my LR3. Had a hell of a time finding the correct tools to remove the fan. I went to auto zone and rented their kit that had a 36mm wrench however it also said 1 7/16 and guess what it didn't fit. I tried to use a big crescent wrench but couldn't get in there. I went all over trying to find the pulley holding tool and no luck at auto zone, pep boys, sears. Driving over to Oreilly's and saw Napa. Had an aaaa haaaa moment and sure enough they had a set with the right 36mm wrench and a pulley holder. I spent more time finding the tool than working on the car. Anyhow for anyone else looking to do this job just a little in site.

 

Do you have a part number for the tool so I can tell my local guy what to look for?

 

Assenmacher makes a #8007 fan clutch holder tool suitable for the three bolts plus a 36mm Fan Clutch shaft tool, #8030, the second jpg.

KD make a suitable #3900 pulley holder as well, the third jpg below.
