Default LR3 Fuel Guage out

Yesterday my 2005 LR3 (101,000 miles) fuel gauge appears to have gone out. I put 10 gallons of gas but gauge reads Empty and the low fuel light stays on all the time.

I have been told to change the fuel pump inside the tank because the sender is bad. Approximate cost of a new one is about $800. EESH.

Any thoughts??

I've read about guys replacing just the fuel tank sending unit on their LR3s. I've never read about them having to replace the fuel pump. I know some vehicles it's integrated into the pump. But, I don't believe that's the case with the LR3?

You are right er1c. Comes down to changing the rear sender. If that does not work then you have to change the front sender, which, unfortunately, can only be changed by swapping out the entire gas tank!!
