Default LR3 got rear-ended this evening. Predictable results

Guess it doesn't hurt that I leave a 16,000lb-rated drawbar on the receiver specifically because I'm around idiots in stop/go traffic 2hrs a day.

....that little bit of flaked paint off the draw bar is literally the only damage on my entire vehicle.

The other guy's front bumper support / impact bar was folded up like aluminum foil, headlight busted/mounts broken.. hood barely closes, bumper cover hangs on the ground.

I actually felt bad and drove back and helped the kid duct-tape up the bumper, headlights, etc so he could get back home.

A few years ago a buddy had the same sort of thing happen to him. He was driving a Tahoe with his draw bar installed when a car rear-ended him. He had to pull the pin on the bar and pull his truck forward as the draw bar was firmly impaled in the bumper of the guy that hit him.

Glad to see the damage to your truck was minimal. I've been thinking about putting a hitch/draw bar combo on for protection as well. I just can't find one that fits with the full spare tire (Curt) or doesn't cost more than a new rear bumper would (OEM).

I actually had a low speed front impact in traffic a while back (don't ask, it involved lost tempers) and had very little scuffing on the bumper and no other damage. These trucks seem extremely tough when it comes to bumping or getting bumped by other cars.

I had a very low-speed front impact once as well...but it didn't involve tempers! I was at a left turn light, waiting for it to turn green. My woman started talking dirty to me in my right ear, I got distracted and my foot eased on the brake and I rolled a few feet into the Honda in front of me. Who could make that $hit up?

In fact, I'm still not sure that that's quite what happened (I was distracted) because the guy wasn't so sure either. He was like "what happened?" I still to this day don't know if he was implying that he may have rolled back himself, or was just asking me how I could have let that occur. I didn't explain what was going on in the LR3's cabin.

The good news: not ONE scratch on either car. I have the A-Frame brush bar. It's soft...and I'm sure that is what saved his Honda and my Insurance premium.
