Default LR3 key cheap!

Ok, I know this will sound crazy but I ordered a cheap fob to replace mine as it is pretty beat up.When it arrived it had the knock off circuit board.I read several times that they can't be programmed but I thought what the hell I have a IDTOOL.When I took apart the original key I kept the original circuit board by the key stub and went through the reprogramming process and it worked. Now I have the original cut key with new electronics.Just need the key cut to put with the old circuit board and I have a cheap second key.will share the link to Amazon where I got the key.uxcell key fob 433 MHz for Land Rover.Try at your own risk but it worked for me!

Update.Got the key cut locally for $15 bucks. All in at $35.Think the IDTool has more than paid for itself.

Could you give a bit more detail on how you swapped things around to get it all working? I have a couple keys that I'd like to replace on our new to us LR3

It should be 315mhz.

i have bought a 6 of those remotes and had 2 vehicles that they would not code to. The others worked fine.

the bummer is of the 4 I coded, 2 stopped working a few months after.

We will see how long it will last.I used the IDTool to program. As I didn't have the key cut first I broke both fobs down and used the key with the gen circuit board fist and then the new board with the same key.

ok, I know the jokes will follow... but you can just "stick the tip in" to code with uncut key blank.

Man I've been driving around with just one key...and I can't believe the prices that the stealerships want to charge...not sure if this option is worth it though as I've heard that these boards do not last even when coded and working...

abran - I know I've talked with you regarding the keys at some point - probably in person when picking up a set of rims from you...is there anywhere else to get blank keys / boards from? Guessing factory is pretty much only option without going to a knockoff....
