LR3 Lost Key -Help
Have a 2006 LR3 HSE. FedEX has lost the key in shipment. Does not matter at this point, just sold house and my LR3 is sitting there. Dealer cant get keys and said if they had them its $2k+
Found a guy local that has keys and will program for $950. For a LR, seems a good price. Rather get a GAP tool and program if possible. Can a GAP tool program without original key? Is there a cheaper way to go? FYI, I already know I am a jack@$$ for not having a spear

Need a working valid key to program with GAP because the key must be able to start the vehicle for programming. LR is quoting a price that I believe involves replacing the CJB or some other main ECU. There is the Autel AP200 Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner which I think does program keys and the device is dirt cheap, about $60 in Amazon. I just do not know the process it uses, you may still need a working key.
Well, you're pretty screwed. The dealership SHOULD be able to cut and program a key for you using your VIN, but they probably cannot since they are almost wholly focused on selling you new cars, not maintaining 15+ year old cars. Call all the automotive locksmith in your area and see if you can get a better price. If not, you'll have to swallow that $950 charge.
when we bought one of our land rovers, it did not come with a key, local deal provided a remote and programming. it was about $400 for the remote and around $85 to program key blank was another $65. call around, sounds like the dealer is charging for something more than a remote and programming
OK.... First for not calling me names
Second, FedEx found the key and got it to me. Had to go around their bad, cant do anything, outsourced to some country only God knows customer service.... But called the corporate office to get some action. They responded well.
Third, thank all of you that responded!
Next, what's the best tool for a 2006 LR3? GAP, or something else? Seems a GAP is VIN locked. Also have a 2011 LR2. Is there something that can diagnose both and make keys. Or buy a GAP plus something for the LR2?
Can the GAP sync a new e-diff lock motor.... I went to the GAP web site and it's light on info. I would love a list of all GAP did

The GAP tool is VIN locked to one vehicle, but you can add a second VIN for I around $80. https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/shop/...nd-eascontrol/
The GAP tool can easily read both LR3's and LR2's, as well as LR4's and Range Rovers.

I think you are correct. Got back this page to ensure that's the case/ The link below shows the models...LR2, LR3, LR4, plus many more. Just want to be sure

Also one Bay found this fob (link below). Since I now have my original key back, will this allow the GAP IIDTool BT to copy the fob

That eBay key will probably work. The only issue is the batteries are not always rechargeable in those, so after while they die. But the programing should be good for starting since the battery is only used for remote functions.
Thanks everyone. Looks like its time for a GAP tool and make a couple of spears for both LRs
Dakota Travler, did you use the GAP to sync your rear diff e-lock motor... think it was you who changed one out last year
