Default LR3 Lower Steering shaft removal

Quick question: Does the lower bolt on the lower steering shaft (the one nearest the steering rack) need to be backed out completely to remove the steering shaft? I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but just checking. I have the bolt loose enough that I can move the steering shaft on the input into the steering. Unfortunately, the bolt is really stuck. I'm guessing that it sits in a notch on the steering rack input shaft.

Thanks

Thanks DT.

I was finally able to get it all the way out w/ an impact wrench. Drives like a dream now.
