Default LR3/LR4 same compressor cover?

Do the newer AMK compressors use the same black outer cover as the older Hitachi? I have just sourced a nice used AMK assembly with bracket but I'm not sure if I can use the old box, or if the mounting holes line up. I will also need a few more parts. I believe there is a tubing conversion kit that comes with the new compressors to covert from Hitachi to AMK. Does anyone know where to get the tubing kit?

I don't think the covers are the same as the AMK kit I received had new covers. I'm not sure if there is a separate part number for the bag of adaptors, your best bet is probably the parts counter at your local LR dealership. You would probably also want to have a set of the captive nuts on standby - I didn't need them but I have heard tales of rusted in threads needing to be busted out. It’s a pain when the whole job comes to a halt because of 50c worth of hardware...

And if you need step by step see this guide which I followed http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic84165.html

My dealer just got back with me on a price of $390 for all of the parts in the kit that I don't have. That seems rather high considering they wanted just $716 for ONLY the compressor and $899 for the entire kit. I'm seeing covers for sale but they don't say which compressor, only LR3.

That's not surprising, when you buy the complete "kit" it often works out cheaper than piecing it out...not logical I agree but that's the market for you...and they're probably the only game in town unless you fancy custom tube making and bending. If you got a good enough discount on the compressor alone, then that may make it worthwhile. Or maybe not.

I decided to forgo the used one and purchased the kit. At least I"ll know its all there and new. That should make it easier to narrow down any future eas issues.
