LR3 Navigation Disc update?
Thanks for letting me know - at least the 2015 / 2016 disc that I do have has most of what I drive on plus the polar bears in what were the blank map areas of the LR disc now show some evidence of civilization.
Hi @dijkvr ! I am a new user, and can't DM you, but very happy to see that you're providing at least some kind of support for our old nav units! I'd like to buy a DVD if they are still available. Can you DM me, or email me -- my username, at gmail. Thanks again! - Gus
Also I think the two or three posts above pretty much answer the question for LR3's and similar.
If there is still a disc available, it will be for a circa 2015 database; the cost including postage will be from fifty to a hundred dollars, so if available, you might indicate that you are OK with that.
I am very happy with my 2015 update as roads do not change much and even less in older metropolitan areas of the States.
My 2004 factory Land Rover disc showed Polar Bears north of me and cattle drive trails in the west up against the foothills. Those were from Royal Army ordinance maps, the latest available in.the twenties but now recently updated in the early 21st century. As such, the 2015 update for me, brought the database into the 21st century. As to the polar bears, they were replaced by ice roads - now you see them, now you see a lake sort of thing.
Thanks for the poke. @dijkvr I'm in a 2005 LR3 HSE, currently running ~2004 nav maps which I'd love to update with your DVD. Unfortunately because I am new here, I can't DM anyone until an admin blesses my account. Please let me know how to order from you.
Thanks all for the good will in getting my LR3's maps a little closer to current! All handled with @dijkvr who is awesome for sharing his nav DVD reverse engineering adventures with the community.
As a side note if any site mods see this, I understand the intent behind avoiding new sign-ups being able to DM-spam folks, but getting signed up for this forum is quite a pain in the butt. I had to change router settings because your forum-firewall thing doesn't like anyone signing up from an IPv6 address, and then on top of that once I got in, I couldn't send a DM to the one person I was trying to reach. Obviously nothing insurmountable, but it's still unclear to me what it takes to get an account out of newbie purgatory, and half the joy of joining is DMing folks to buy parts, right?

Everyone, for the record @dijkvr 's wonderful update DVD arrived safely to California, unhalted by rain, sleet, hail, or pandemic. It's a HUGE improvement over what I had been enjoying in my 2005 LR3. I'm not sure how, but it actually seems to be much more responsive, and the graphics of the maps themselves seem significantly clearer than on the original disc. Amazing to be because I build stuff like this OEM infotainment system, and I had assumed the limitations were on what ever terrible MIPS processor and touchscreen LR sourced in 2005 -- not so! Software change fixed it right up, and even made the gas station waypoints usable again!
Thanks @dijkvr !!

Thanks @dijkvr !!I assumed I was just maybe going to get an updated map but it seems a whole lot of stuff changed with regards to the "presentation" as well. The changes were for the better I might add and I kept discovering new stuff for a year or so thereafter.
As to circa 2005, bits inside, I think probably 2003 or earlier might be about right as it took some time for LR to get all to work. We forget that back then most people never really had heard of GPS; I am not even certain that it was on our not so smart phones then.
