LR3 Owners Review
Well, my experience is short - I shopped for Disco II 4 years ago and drive LR3 a little more than a month. That time I've ended buying A6. This time I was choosing b/w Q7, new X5 and LR3 (old X5 was also on the list, but 3rd seat requirement threw it out). LR3 won mostly on $$, esp.with '06 incentives.Compared with D II, it's night and day. Old Disco was uncomfortable, slow, with outdated interior. LR3 is a modern car with manynew technologies wrapped in a nice body. But as better it is, it's equally more expensive. By getting new you'll save on service first few years, but will lose on depreciation.I haven't tested it offroad. After 1 week of ownership I got check engine light, which was fixed with upgraded s/w, and also had all 4 tires replaced due to vibration.
I definetely don't plan on keeping the truck beyond the warranty.

I drive an '06 LR3 HSE. Had it since last November. Have been off roading with it 3 or 4 times already. Step one, get rid of the useless factory tires. There are many takes and opinions on what replacement tire works best for the LR3. Other than that, as stated before, it is a very modern vehicle. Comfortable, EVEN in the 3rd row. The V8 version will not win any quarter mile races, but it is athletic enough for a 6,000 lbs SUV. On the highway cruisingin 6th gear it gets decent milage. In the city it gets VERY thirsty. It is a billy goat off road, specialy with the heavy package (locking rear diff) and true all terrain tires. It turns plenty heads in town and the ability to lock the transmission in any one gear--yes, even in 6th-- removes all the silly gear guessing most SUV's suffer from when traveling with the cruise on while going up slight hills on the interstate. There's moreinterior room in the LR3 than in any other new model currentlyin production. Land Rover has a reputation for being high maintenance vehicles. I have had no problems yet with mine and I don't intend to keep it past the warranty anyways before I trade for a new one so I can't speak on that respect.
Over all, I am quite impressed with what LR has been able to do with the LR3. I got a huge discount for buying a (new) 06 and would recomend the vehicle to anyone I know. By the way, I am a previous GX470 owner.

I bought a 05 LR3 "loaner/demo" a year and a half ago. Got big discount, free service, and extended warranty. Hard deal to pass up since I had been shopping for an LR3 when they were new. Also, got the tow package thrown in since the window sticker said it had it, but it didn't. I have been very happy with the LR3. I do agree, ditch the GoodYear tires. I replaced mine with Toyo's and the ride is much better. I have had a few minor problems, but all fixed by the dealer with no problems or hassles. I don't drive in traffic much and I average 17 mpg. I also work from home, so usage is lower than some.I am taking the LR3 in for 30K service this week with only two issues. One wheel well mud guard needs to be tightened and there is a low squeal sometimes from the engine (sounds like loose belt or something like that). I would say that the sound system is good, but not the best. I really think they missed the mark on the screen display. Can't believe when I play my mp3 CD's, the song title and artist is not displayed. Also, the reverse video green clock is hard to read. Also, the speakers could be better. Overall, I would buy it again based on the look, quality, service, and price.
