Default LR3 questions

I am thinking of buying an 06 LR3 SE 7 seating,winter/cold weather pkg with 25000 miles for 23999. The warranty for 4 year 48000 is 3000. I always hear that this is a nightmare vehicle and always is in for service, warranty work or just having problems. How much is this bull or is there serious problems with the vehicle on repair issues. Yes i have read alot but would love to hear from real owners. thanks hopeful owner

The LR3, and any rover from about 2004 on is going to be just as reliable as a mercedes, bmw, or the like. It was earlier year rovers like mine that gave Land Rover their reputation. Oddly enough, I have not had too many problems with mine. If you are that concerned about break downs, get that warranty for peace of mind. One thing you must understand, is due to the highly electronic nature of these vehicles. Is they tend to have "quirks". They are not really problems, just random weird behavior that comes out of nowhere and then goes away out of random (usually when you turn the vehicle off and then restart it). We have had 2 jags, all with the same engine that the LR3 has. The jags have been more reliable than our hyundais so far, and that has been for 5 years of jaguar ownership. However, there have been instances where the suspension doesn't want to come up one day, or your on the road and the check engine light comes on and then goes away. Doesn't necessarily mean anything, just a "quirk". There are lemons out there, so beware. But as far as the LR3 goes, the consumer reviews on edmunds seem to think highly of it, and I have driven several on long trips. They are very solid vehicles, and I will be purchasing one here in a year or so.
