for the sake of ease and brevity, I bolted on a Bully Step to the end of the left frame rail just before it meets the bumper as there is already a hole there. I off-road it only a dozen or so times a year climbing up to alpine lakes on relatively tame trails, so I don't foresee clearance being an issue. The goal was to enable my wife to reach the fly rod vault, and this achieves that, so it'll stay until something better comes along.
it doesn't protrude past the bumper at all and still sits well above the plane of the axle. I did have to trim the corner down to avoid contact with the full-size spare.
