Hi,

I’m new to the forum. I own an ‘06 LR3 with a rear differential that’s acting up. The Land Rover dealer and our local independent Land Rover mechanic have both quoted $5,000 to replace it.

I’m looking for alternatives. A local salvage yard has a low mileage LR4. Does anyone know if an LR4 rear differential is compatible with an LR3?

if not, has anyone had success with having a shop rebuild their existing differential, or replaced it with a remanufactured unit?

...they have different crawl ratios but I think that's due to the transmission.
