Default RE: LR3 Reliability

I am just about to order a new LR3, and am very curious now if there will be a very new or a face-lifted LR3 available in the end of 2008. Does anyone of you have an idea? My dealer didn't admit anything.

Thank you for your answers!

Greetings from Thailand!

Hoping to buy a 2009 LR3 (in 2008).

I am a LR3 '06 owner - leased. At 23,000 all brakes and shoes had to be replaced. The funny thing to me is picking the car up brand new the brakes appeared to have rust coating of some sort. The new ones I got yesterday are glistening steel. At anyrate, I figured brakes would hold up longer than 23,000 however I'm almost all city driving.

Also at 23,000 the dealer says the rear tires are shot. Don't they rotate them? Given the car is full-time 4-wheel wouldn't all the tires be worn. And I'm pretty sure the sales guy told me those German good years were rate for 45,000. So how is it they're shot at 23,000? One other thing, this is the 2nd time I've gotten the car back and the throttle is not properly adjusted. Now I have to go back to the dealer on Monday morning to get that adjustment because while you're sitting idle, the vibration is ridicoulous. It certainly wasn't dropped off that way on Friday.

Love the ride though but the tires are truly the worst part.

Glad to see I'm not the only one...

2006 LR3 SE with 11,000

Suspension Fault
TPMS died
AC Compressor
AC drained on floor
Sunroof drained on floor
Driver's seat motors shorting out (in the shop today for the third time with this issue)
Window switches quit on driver's door
Transmission slipping and jerking on takeoff

It's no wonder LR is at the absolute bottom of the heap for problems per vehicle (30% more than the runner up) according to J. D. Powers. I got a bad taste in my mouth when the first suspension fault occurred on day 2 of ownership, and the first appointment the Orlando dealer could give me was two weeks out. Even then, they had it for several days before they "got to it". We were supposed to get a loaner LR3 but they rented us a little compact s-box from Enterprise. Comparable vehicle? Yeah, right. Fortunately, I moved to Savannah and the dealer near here is much, much better.

Owning a Land Rover is a Love/Hate relationship. Currently it is a hate relationship. So much so that I am researching my 05 LR3's value to sell it off. This will be my final Land Rover. 25,000 miles and it has been one problem after another, many of the same problems listed in the forums. It doesnt help that the mechanics cant get it right either.

Good bye Land Rover!

In late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research. I'm reporting absolute stats like "times in the shop" that will make the differences between cars much clearer. Relative ratings obscure too much--how large is the difference between "better than average" and "worse than average"?

I'd like to include the LR3 in this research, but need more owners to sign up to help out first.

To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results free of charge.

Details: Vehicle reliability research

I have a 2005 LR3 SE named "Dame Edna", she-like Monica sports a dark blue dress.

I have had only a couple of small things (to me) that have happened that come to mind: Suspension air compressor failure early (warranty replacement), rattling back door (extreme vertical off road excursion caused this, dealer fixed at no charge). Lets see, other than things my teenage daughter wasn't the cause of-nothing! It's been a joy to drive, and Dame and I are very happy together.

Wanna Benz?Buy what you like-they are very nice but I bought this to hunt a property that is rugged and has a stream I have to cross on it and it does that exteremely well while being very comfortable around town as well.

Sounds like you should be in an LR ad. Actually using the LR3 for what it was designed to do.

Unfortunately, I bought an 2007 LR3 HSE and took possession on August 1, 2007. In the 54 days since then my LR3 has spent 25 days in the Land Rover service department. Currently, itremainsin the shop where it has been the last 11 days. The navigation system, audio system and voice systems have failed 3 times. The first time this happened was a Sunday and the service department was closed. By Monday the LR3 had suffered a total electical failure and could not be jumpstarted and so was towed to the dealership. The subsequent 2 times I have not waited to see if it would suffer a total electical failure and have driven it directly to the shop. One time the loaner was a LR3. The audio system also failed in the loaner. My experience is the two LR3s that I spent more than a test drive in both failed. In my state it takes 30 days before the "Lemon Law" applies and I can force the dealership to take back the vehicle and return my money. Just 5 days to go.
