I feel for you! I got my 2008 LR3 on July 28 2007 and until Dec. 07 (within 4 months)it spent 33 days at the workshop for warranty repairs (Transfer case was replaced at 600 miles, Cooler box, door panel, fog lights, engine head were all replaced before even 3000 miles).
Thank God that the Lemon Law exists, and I returned my car already waiting to get my money back. However, Land Rover service is not responding, saying that they are handling my case, so I had to hire a lawyer.

However, I have to admit that off-roading the car is the best you can get...if something doesn't fail when you are on the mountain.

Potential buyers, take all these into account before you buy! Land Rover customer service is probably the worst customer service you can find.

i am sorry to hear that harossi has had so many problems with the dealer so far my dealer has been wonderfull and helpful and i have had a quirk or 2 but i have had my fair share of cars from around the world jag, bmw ect.. but this is the first time i havent started thinking what do i want next. i keep thinking i hope the one lr is making in 3-4 yrs is like this one. hopefully with less quirks. even if their are the same quirks id get another one
i have even been tempted to buy another so i don't have to share it with my wife since she wont let it out of her sight. when i think about the lr i smile every time. i live over 200miles from the nearest dealer.

OK guys, especially those of you with all the service problems. Yes, the 05-06 years had some occasional issues. And unfortunately, the 07-08 years seem to have mostly the same issues. However, from my experience talking with other LR3 owners, both at the dealer and around, the majority of LR3 owners don't have the horror issues that some of you have encountered. The ones with no problems usually don't spend their time bragging about how great their vehicle is. We know that most will never take their vehicle off a paved road. And most of them don't frequent these message boards.

So, my point is that the LR3 is one of the most sophisticated vehicles ever produced by a mass production company, and despite the 33 or so computers that hum it is a remarkable piece of equipment. Unfortunately, most American buyers use the vehicle for mommy stuff, hauling kids to soccer games, etc., and not as the remarkable recreational tool that it is. I have never in my life been behind the wheel of a production vehicle that can handle the offroad environment as well as the LR3 when you consider the comfort, style and utility that it offers. Like Jantiz, mine puts a smile on my face everytime I get behind the wheel. And I love to see the jaw drop on early generation LR drivers when I scramble up a hill, in fine leather, cd playing loud, A/C blaring away, the cooler keeping my drinks cold, the sun coming through the sunroof,...where do I stop.

Be realistic. The LR3 is a sophisticated tool, that give great pleasure, especially when used what it was designed for. Yes, thank god for Lemon Laws...Don't we all get up on the wrong side of the bed sometimes and make mistakes. And sometimes, the Brits have a couple extra pints at lunch, so maybe a wire gets crossed. Mine has 62k miles on it....I just don't want to get another vehicle, as this is the most fun I have ever had.

For those of you who stumble across this post and are contemplating an LR3....GO FOR IT! especially if you want to get outdoors! If you encounter that rare problem, there are ways to get it resolved by going direct to LRNA, but be assured...these problems are rare, and my Disco II had far more issues and less reliability. And, the LR3 is way more fun and practical.

I now have about 100 LR3owners signed up to participate in TrueDelta's reliability research. Should have results for the 2004 and 2005 in May. This will help indicate how much the reliability of the LR3 actually differs from that of other vehicles.

But these are small sample sizes, so additional participants would be very helpful.

I know that LR can have the reputation of being a reliability nightmare and I think a lot of it has to do with the old legends about British cars being unreliable. Jump onto any vehicle specific forum and you will find a number of horror stories.

Just remember that ALL makes are vulneable to the occasional lemon. When I bought my 2007 Volvo, everyone commented on how reliable they are and that it will last forever. In the year that I had it, I had issues with the nav system, sunroof, tire pressure monitor, seat heaters, airbags and audio system. I hated that thing and was never so glad to be rid of a car.

My first post on this site.

Leased my 08 LR3 HSE on Saturday for my wife. I take it home and she is looking over it, tries the sunroof and it doesn't work. The Sirius radio also says "acquiring signal" for about 5-10 secs everytime I change a station. My dealer is 85 miles away and I now have to take the vehicle in for repairs 2 days after I drove it off the lot. There was also permanent scrathes on the drivers seat that I asked to have repaired that were not, they have to either re-condition the seat or replace it. The salesman was the best salesman I have ever had and the best buying experience I have had.

I have never leased a vehicle before and I choose to this time for two reasons. The first being it saved me 4K in total paid when the lease vs buy was compared(LR had $7500 lease inc.) and secondly the issues I have heard about. I am already feeling like I made a good decision.

Bought a Lexus GX 470 (off road Magazine 4x4 of the year two years in a row [:'(]) in 2005 because I had decided I was finnaly going to get my first "real" 4x4 yet I also wanted to be comfortable while commuting to work. I had read how it was supposed to be one of the most reliable SUVs on the road. Had it for a year. Sunroof stopped working, turn signals stopped working, driver side mirror stopped returning to original position after panning down in reverse, and everytime I tried to go off roading with it, every cross-axle situation left me stuck andthe trailer hitch seemed to drag even on the slightest exit angles. It was supposed to have a Lexus version of traction control that re routes traction to the tires in contact with the ground. Sounded good in the books, but NEVER worked in practice.

So it got traded for my 06 LR3. I knew if even Lexusis incapable to produce a trouble free vehicle, I was going to have a few glitches with Land Rover as well so I was not surprised when I did. Dealer worked through them quickly and efficiently.I now have a REAL 4x4 that is also comfortable during my daily commute. After the few glitches up front, have been trouble free ownership. Would not trade it for anything in the world, except perhaps a Range Rover when I have an extra 90k to burn .

The latest results were posted this week, covering owner experiences through March 31, 2008.

We had 16 responses for the 2005 LR3, and so included a result for it, but with an asterisk for marginal sample size.

The rate of 141 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year is very high for a 2005 model.

With more participants, we could provide a more precise result and additional detail, and include additional model years.

To view the results, and then sign up to help make this happen:
