Default RE: LR3 Reliability

I am not an LR3 owner, but was given one while my 97 Disco was in for repairs. I had an LR3 for almost a month in early 2007.

I was in LOVE from the moment I got into the truck! Being a female and a tall one at that, I always have to duck while getting into my Disco - not true with the LR3.

I have to say that I loved the way it handled both in city and highway driving although air suspension is not really to my liking. It did feel like riding in a Cadillac, cushy, plush, well appointed, easily accessible controls. Responsive handling, good braking ratio. All in all I like the ride.

My only complaint would be the rear gate configuration, not as easy to access the rear compartment because of the dual doors. I prefer the side swinging door on my Disco for loading kids, groceries etc.. I would think that most women would have a problem with this gate, even though LR is not the only car maker to use this configuration.

Just a female point of view.

Good to here a Womans point of view. I have been trieing to talk my wife into trading in her Isuzu Rodeo for any LR. We have no children but she spends 10 times the amount of drive time I do(2 car family + cat) driving and she is reluncent to change.

When we got married she drove a honda Civic, awful car ascomfort and driveing was concerened.Took me 5 years to get her into a suv,may take longer to get another LR into the 2 person+cat family.

Interesting review. It might get more visibility, though, posted in its own thread.

Thanks for putting that in. With just about any vehicle these days it's fairly possible to go the first few years with no problems.

This research closely tracks vehicles as they age, with updates four times a year.

It's looking like both the 2005 and 2006 will be in the August results, but with asterisks for marginal sample size. (The 2006 is currently a single response short of the minimum.)

I'd like to get rid of those asterisks. If you've signed up to participate but haven't yet responded to the survey (via a link in the email you received), please do. And if you haven't signed up yet, I hope you'll consider doing so.

Those results have been posted.

While the 2005's repair rate appears to be much worse than average, the 2006's appears to be average, maybe even a bit better than average.

In both cases the sample sizes are marginal, so these results are asterisked and visible only to members on the site.

With more participants, we could provide more precise results and cover additional model years.

Updated results in November. The more participants we have, the more precise the information will be.

184 LR3 and Disco3 owners signed up so far. A great start, but more are needed.
