LR3 side steps

True, but I find the steps to be awkward even in a mall parking lot.
I always feel like I'm making an awkward double step using them, like the placement is wrong.
i guess for small children they are functional, but as a fully grown adult(although I'm sure I'm getting taller) they don't seem to help.

I didn't answer his/her question, that is true, but the alternative was saying nothing, because I don't know the answer. Instead I chose to give them food for thought. I stated that they are a detriment for off-road, and meant that mostly as a caveat. I know that not everyone takes their LR3 off-road.
I do want to go on a little tangent, now that we are there. @EastCoast you state: "...they do make a great safe family daily driver that can be enjoyed solely on road."
Safe? Yes, very. Family? Sure, they can accommodate. Daily driver enjoyed on the road? This is debatable. The enjoyable part, in my opinion, is the confident feel of it and knowing that it can tackle anything. To me that's great on a long road trip where weather can vary and road conditions are unpredictable....but for a daily commute to work or school let's say? Hmmm....it's heavy. It gets bad gas mileage. It's high maintenance. It's finicky.
Don't get me wrong, I love my LR3 as I've had it for 12 years....but I love it because of what I do with it. It's my toy. I am thankful to have that luxury, I suppose. If I had to commute in the LR3 I'd probably not be so enamored of it by now.
If I want an all-weather people hauler for a daily driver there are FAR better choices than the LR3. X5, QX60, A7, all come to mind. The LR3 is a 4x4.
Just my $0.02.
