Yeah that was a fun day. I actually tried to yank that guy out 4 times with the same LR3 (Lucky8 LR3) I just wasn't comfortable flooring it and bouncing off the rev limiter since it wasn't my truck.

Justin of Lucky8 however was more than happy to let the Jag V8 eat. His first try was all it needed.

There are really very few issues that cause it to go to bumpstops, and even a dying compressor, if caught early enough, can be bypassed by a few fuses. So, what happened to you really shouldn't ever happen on a trail if the driver is diligent and does some pre-trip inspecting. The GAP Tool is more important to have in your tool kit than a screwdriver.

Curious, before you had the Jeeps help you, what did you do to address the fault? Generally the more sinister they appear, the simpler they are to get around.
So I turned it off and on a few times, then i unplugged the battery cables for a few min. Nothing. Then I tried getting out on my own, but low to the ground and no traction control was impossible. When I got home, i took off the cables for a few days. I just went out and hooked it back up and everything is OK now!!!!! Just needed a long reset??? I don't know, but now i know to try that if it happens again.

You just need an IIDTool and you'll be a happy camper.

Yes. Agree. The IIDTool is incredibly handy.

So a buddy of mine that was there - from Why Not Customs - told a few stories about Land Rovers, Toyotas and Nissans having to be rescued on the trail by Jeeps. When I say he 'told a few stories' I mean he gloated, A LOT.

I've actually installed schrader valves on all my corners so I can change the pressure on each with an external high pressure compressor. I'm also working on retrofitting an on board high pressure compressor to replace the stock little guy.

Aka "****ed" I'm to low to go anywhere and no traction controls at all. Whatever the problem is, small or big it 100% ****ed me. If it was not for hundreds of jeeps around me I would still be on the trail broke and stuck because I was to low to go anywhere without tearing up my bottom. There was a bad *** 4×4 flat bed that saved my ***.
bottom line I'm getting rid of my air ride. It could really **** you if something happens to it on a trail. You should to!!!
It's your 5th post here any you're telling an entire forum of (generally-knowledgeable) individuals what to do?

Sounds like you made a shotgun run to advanced trails without checking your vehicle and it came back around to bite you.

My LR3 is 11yo with 125k miles in a severe NE climate (0deg to 110 deg) and I tow a 6200lb travel trailer through mountains with a 615lb tongue weight. Air suspension has never worked better! Saved me from being beached on snow drifts, run through 30"+ water, etc.

Has your vehicle ever lowered when you walk out in the morning? In the winter? Guarantee you say yes. Have you checked / cleaned / lubed the bags / shocks / height sensors? This is a VERY complex unit that gives you versatility of no other vehicle in this price range (x3) but has to be checked on. It's giving you hints - you just need to head the warnings and work on whatever isn't functioning right before you push the limits.

You just unplugging things and cutting batteries off and resetting stuff, seriously? A typical scan w/ a good Snap On / MaxiDas scanner or OE LR systems I think there's like 19 DIFFERENT computer modules to check! All with tons of sensors each.

You absolutely can't diagnose anything on this vehicle without an IIDTool or scanner. That doesn't make it a "pain in the ***" it just makes it a normal vehicle, especially in light of the capabilities it offers.

If you want a base jeep for 2x the price that tows 3x less has fabric seats and 60 year-old-hardware / engineering with live axles and half-plastic construction that drives like a semi truck vs. a euro sports car? - then get a wrangler.

I definitely wouldn't hop on these forums and register just to complain about a PERFECTLY CAPABLE vehicle because you don't know enough about it or care to maintain it a decade after it was built.

When the Discovery 3 was launched they toured around the WORLD with these things, they've also done trips across the country. I'm sure you've YouTubed the LR3 before - they're perfectly capable.

So many people purchase these (New or used) without understanding all that goes into them. I personally have trail led in Moab in Jeeps, Hummer H1, H2, H3s, trucks, SUVs and even Motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, and bicycles. I have also had problems with my air suspension systems but have taken the time to understand them. When it is working properly NOTHING works like it. To be wrapped in luxury with the A/C chilling me to the bone despite 100+ deg weather and the rising rate air suspension soaking up what is jostling all the built to the hilt Jeep passengers to have digestive discomfort. My LR3 cruises to and from the trailhead at 80-90+mph while their trailer queens get death wobble over 55. Yeah, there is something to be said about simple, but a new Jeep is far from that. I get the simple thing, I've done the Jeep thing, and I prefer my Rover thing.
