LR3 Towing
Hi..
I have been trying to find out this information for a while..
I am new to rovers, purchased a 07 HSE LR3 for my wife..
I wanted to be able to use it to Tow my YJ wrangler on a trailer.
I have heard conflicting reports as to the ability of the truck to tow loads like this.
Anybody have any real world advice?
I know it has the ability to tow the weight, 7700lbs but the hitch is only rated class 3 while the gross is well into the class 4 catagory.
Any advise?

It pulls very well for it's size. It dose not tow like my 1/2ton truck will. I have towed my 21' boat 3500lbs a few times. It gets the job done. I have also towed an inclosed trailer 18' did ok. You should be fine that jeep is not very heavy. I know a guy who tows his wifs jeep with his D2 so you will be fine the LR3 should tow way better than the D2. If I can tow with my truck I will, but If the whole family is allong for the ride I don't hesitate to hook the old girl up.

I use my LR3 to tow all the time. Recently i just moved my goodyear dealership into a new building. I towed a variety of flatbed trailers with anything from cars, pickups, to several 3 post lifts, various tire changing equiment and mechanical equipment. The most amazing feature was the load leveling. I would have my guys load the truck till the tires were stuffed in the fenders and the air suspension would pick it right back up. The only complaint is i had some issues unhooking the trailers efficiently because of the ride height re-adjusting. I also would like to note that after towing the heaviest loads the computer threw it into extended height mode and required me to reset the height. I also had to restart the car after throwing a few suspension faults. I know the root of this problem, its a problematic height sensor on the right rear that works half *** sometimes and not at all other times. The LR3 is an extremely competent towing vehicle. I would advise using the command shift since the transmission LOVES to hold gears ecspecially under 30 mph, making it seemingly prone to overheating
