LR3 Transfer Gearbox

LR3 Transfer Gearbox
I bought a '09 LR3 & it is a different Rover from my old Disco I -1996. The Transfer Gearbox as I was reading the book on the LR3 states: " Do not use auxiliary equipment, such as roller generators that are driven by only one or two wheels of the vehicle, as they will cause failure of the transfer gearbox." page 140 of the owners' manual.
My questions are:
1. What does this imply?
2. Here in Colorado we have to run our vehicles through emissions testing to get license plates. I know that when they test our vehicles they run the wheels on cylinders to generate an "emission test" of some sort. Is this what the manual refers to as "roller generators"? Has anyone here in the state of Colorado had any trouble with the transfer gearbox after an emissions test?
Thank you in advance for any help on this matter. I don't want to failure of the transfer gearbox. Paul

Hmmm....I just got my Emissions tested myself. While I've seen thesr roller machines where the tester has you peg a certain RPM for t seconds, mine was done by a reading of some sort through the OBD2 Port. It may have to do with the age of the vehicle and of course how the testing station is equipped.
