LR3 transmission issue.
I took the vehicle to 3 mechanics to find transmission leaks and came out being bone dry. If the transmission was filed low when serviced wouldnt i see these symptoms when i got it done 2 years ago? I had it serviced at 100k now its at 140k. A shop recommended me to do a fluid exchange with the machine using valvoline max life atf. Since the filter was changed 40k miles ago im beginning to think this might be a good idea. Any thought?
Thats great that they checked for leaks and none were found, they also checked the fluid level, right? Because if fluid did leak out and now its low but lower than the leak point of course it will not appear to be leaking anymore.
they did not check the fluid level. Im sure they are not sure how.
Not many mechanics familiar with land rovers here in MN. What are your thought on getting fluid exchanged with a machine? Since it was done 40k ago i figured it wouldnt hurt to exchange the fluid.
It a ZF trans, one of the most common brands out there. The fluid level NEEDS TO BE CHECKED. Several have mentioned it. Its like going to the doctor and how they almost always check weight and blood pressure. Its common practice. I certainly will not give any more input until that is done. Its simply and needs to be checked before more guesses are made to the problem. Good luck.
i will try to find a good place tomorrow and report back. Thanks
