LR3 transmission problems
So I have a 2007 LR3 V8 HSE with 192 thousand miles (310,000KM) and it has started to have some transmission issues, it started when once and a while I would get a Transmission Fault or Error when going from Park to drive or drive to Park. I would usually just clear it with the IID gap tool then it wouldn't happen for a few weeks, then as I would be driving it would go into what seemed to be neutral. I looked into it and thought it might be the transition shifter linkage so I ordered one and a few days before I got it we had A LOT of rain, I am in British Columbia Canada so we get quite a bit of rain frequently. After that day or so of crazy rain It has been getting the transmission Fault or Error when going from park to drive or vice versa a few Times a day, even after I would clear it would sometimes come straight back and I would have to put it in sport mode or Neutral for it to clear and not come straight back. So a few days later I changed the transmission Linkage and it has seemed to fix the problem when it would go into Neutral while driving but not the Transmission Fault/Error problem. At this point I am not really sure what It could be I heard its possible water can get into the Transmission control module maybe somehow? Or maybe the rear diff motor? I would appreciate the help because Im little lost now on what it could be.

Those transmission faults can accelerate quickly sometimes on their own, so I don't know if I'd be looking at it as being a water related issue necessarily. Could be, but I doubt it just personally.
Have you serviced it lately? New filter and fluid, filled properly? That's always the first place I'd start with issues like this.

You could have more than one issue. I would look again at the linkage, installation of the linkage is a very precise thing to do and if you were off you could still have issues. For me the neutral drops were 100% linkage related and I never had faults though. I lubricated my linkage shortly after getting th truck and having these issues and have yet to replace it. Every year I simply lubricate well even with all new parts on hand.
What concerns me is you have a GAP tool but did not mention any codes? Are you not pulling codes with these faults? Clearing is fine, but best to know what you are clearing and could be of help here figuring out the exact issue. By the way, things you may want to look into are rear brake lamps. Silly, but it comes up on the forums. The wrong lamps/defect lamps can cause weird errors. Also get under the transmission and check for leakage at the main harness connector. It points towards the back and is on the right side of the transmission toward the rear of it. The sleeve can leak causing fluids to escape, that can cause low fluid levels and some claim it can also cause fluid to get into the connector and cause issues. And obviously along with all that, check your fluid levels.
Also what do you mean by you ordered "one" shifter linkage. You mean one kit? Cause its a series of parts. I just want to make sure you don't mean shifter and in the lever inside the truck.

Hey thanks for the feedback, and yes buy me buying a transmission link I mean the whole kit assembly. would it be possible that an interior lamp could be setting it off the transmission F/E since I had a little bit of water get in there a while ago. These are the codes the truck is throwing at me
1. B1D13-15 (2C) Interior lamps 1 circuit
-
General electrical failure - circuit short
to battery or open
2.U0101-87 (2F) Lost communication
with transmission control module - Bus
signal/message failure
- missing a
message
3.U0402-68 (2B) Invalid data received
from transmission control module
Algorithm based failure - event
information

Hey so I have not resolved it yet but I have found out what it is. Now that we are going into summer it has heated up a lot and we haven’t had any rain the problem has gone away. But the other day I washed the car and a few hours later when I went to drive it it did it’s thing again. But next day and days after with no rain there was absolutely no issue and I took it too a Land Rover specialist they said there is nothing wrong with the transmission. So I am most certain it is water related I have checked all the sunroof drains and can’t find where it would be leaking in so the problem now is I just have to find where the water is getting into, I was thinking around maybe in the pillar by the snorkel.
