Default LR3 V6 ZF tranny fluid fill???

Hey guys...
Needing help again...I read here about filling the tranny through the center drain plug hole...this was for a Disco...similar to some other cars out there. BUT...after removing the heat shield on the pan...I see the only plug on the bottom is directly over the transmission cross member. Someone please tell me that they really didn't do that!!!
There doesn't seem to be any access to the sides of the gearbox to access a fill hole there.
Once again...
Thanks!
Ed

8mm Hex on the side, just above the pan rail, typically toward the rear.

thanks LR Tech...
I'll look for it tomorrow. Is it on the Drivers Side or Passenger Side?
I was hoping I wouldn't have to remove the transmission cross member!

Default Cutting torch needed.

I think you need a cutting torch to remove that cross offending member.

The jpg below is how many get at the tranny; particularily in the UK.

The link below has a number of files within, some showing all the ZF parts, exploded views etc; other files discuss the pans, both metal and plastic, and how to change and fill the tranny oil in a less dramatic manner.

Thanks Bbyer!
That link is a saver...if I ever have to work on this thing again I'll have it stored.
Found a pic with the location of the 8 mm hex plug on the side...appears to be just behind the shift cable. I'll top off the fluid and I'll be done with this beast!
As an engineer, I'm still just shaking my head at some of the things I've found on this vehicle. LOL...common sense be damned!
I do have to wonder if they are just oversights or done on purpose to generate revenue for dealers???

Project done...was able to get to the side plug and added about 3/4 of a quart of fluid. I just used a inferred thermometer and got it to about 40 Deg C and topped it off.
I hope I'm done with LR3s for a while!
Thanks for all the help!

Just so you know, the V8s are much better to work on, that V6 was a horribly designed after thought.

Amen to that! The engine design itself is just bizarre!
