Default Are LR3's really worth that much!?!

Hey guys,

Been on the search for a used LR3, and I am surprised to see how much people are wanting to get out of their high mileage trucks? Is a 05 120,000 mile truck really worth twelve grand?? When I began looking, I was expecting to be paying around eight or nine for a one hundred thousand mile truck. Am I the crazy one here??

Thanks guys!!!

Thanks Tom. What kind of engine work does it need? Minor bits? I have come across a few that are pretty cheap, but they seem like they need ALOT of work. I have heard mixed reviews on the 05. Some say they are all about the same, others say no? I was told no matter what, to make sure its the V8 and not the V6.

I have an engine noise up front /drivers side

Need a center cap, a pillar trim on pass side by windshield, batt compartment cover, body clips for 1 fender flare, , clips for the lower grill that covers the tow point, and a major detail

I probly overpaid but it started backed off the trailer and I drove it a block to the house and backed it in there it will sit till I figure out the noise so I can fix it

You're not crazy, but you're also being a bit optimistic. These trucks were $45,000-$55,000 new. If you're seeing them for $12,000, that's a depreciation of 75% of it's value already. Considering that, in all likelihood, the value of these trucks will never get below $4-5,000 or so if they're well taken care of, then you're looking at a loss in equity of about $7-8,000 for a nice, comfortable, useful car that should be able to give you at least another 100,000 if not 150,000 miles. Personally, I still think that's a good deal.

It also depends on your location though. The prices of the LR3 seem to stay kind of high around the DC area here. People report seeing them for $10,000 all the time, but I have never seen one priced like that here. Most are still in the $14-15,000 range.

FWIW... I purchased my 2006 20 months ago for $17K with 85K miles (6 yrs old with avg miles) Didn't think that was high because of the New vs Used price difference. I have been looking for a newer model and I'm finding 2008 for $18k with over 100K on the clock. 2006 are now $10-$12K in my area, so what you are seeing in price seems to be inline. But to answer your question - Are they really worth $12k? Any car/truck is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. With that being said - I love mine and think it worth more than $12K... After test driving (3) used 2008 models... I'm keeping mine, simply because the difference in years don't justify the upcharge in price and there's nothing wrong with mine other than it's 8 yrs old vs 6 yrs old.

After about 3 months of intensive daily searching, especially using CarGurus, Craigslist, autotrader and ebay) I got mine (08 HSE with 75,000 miles, locking rear diff, factory installed G4 Warn Winch and Mantec front skid plate) for $21k from a Missouri non-Land Rover dealer. It's been 99.9% trouble-free, unlike the 03 Range Rover HSE I had previously, which was a complete headache from day one. I say 99.9%, because the front middle console Ashtray sometimes won't stay closed... The only thing I preferred in the Range Rover is the seat (slightly softer, slightly more comfortable) and the heated steering wheel. My first choice to replace the 03 Range Rover was an 07 or 08 Range Rover HSE Supercharged, but after living with the LR3 for about 5 months, I think I'll stick with it. Would be nice if it was Supercharged though...

2006 LR3 HSE 109K mile's with HID lights, 20" Rover rims with brand new Nitto Grappler 265/55R20.
Cost me 14000$ out door last year.
From beginning I was looking for 2005 but hear too much horror stories about it. So
