Default Multiple Errors and Trans not Shifting

Hello All,

I recently had to have my 06 LR3 towed back to my house after the air compressor died a very noisy death. After the tow truck left I started the vehicle and went to move it but received several error messages (HDC error, special programs, the High and Low range lights on the transfer case switch are both lit) When I shift into drive it doesnt move, when I put it back in park I hear a loud clicking/grinding noise. It only makes this noise when going from any gear back into park. Any ideas? I was first thinking the transfer case shift motor so I have a new one here. Am I on the right track?

Hopefully it's just a crazy coincidence, a bad shift motor can cause those symptoms.

obviously wierd as I assume before the tow you had none of these issues.

Yeah nothing before the tow. Is there a way to get the truck into neutral so I can drag it into my shop when the transfer case motor is shot? I actually havent tried to move it in neutral yet but though id ask first...

You can pull up shifter bezel and manually dis engage shift lock solenoid.

or go under, undo 13mm nut holder shifter cable and move trans shifter linkage manually. Furthest position forward is park, one back reverse, 2 back neutral.

The tow truck driver that towed my LR3 wanted to put mine in park with the back wheels on the driveway and the fronts still on the flat bed so he could just drive out from under the LR3. Hate to imagine what that would have done. Glad I was there to stop him, hope your driver didn't do the same.

The shifter moves into each position ok. Just doesnt make the vehicle go forward or backwards lol. Is the shifter solenoid disengage just to be able to move the shifter if locked in the park position or??
