Well....last month I joined the cadre of lunatics that bought a 2nd LR3. I am going to leave this one stock and use it for various camping trips and mild off-road adventures, while it also serves as my wife's DD when she needs to haul stuff or just....whenever she wants, really.
I didn't want another black one, but this thing was very well sorted mechanically despite the high mileage (186,000) so I had to jump on it. So far I have:
Fixed the water ingress issue
Had the T-case, front diff, and rear diff fluids changed
Swapped the coolant bleeder for a brass one
Swapped the front diff breather valve for the newer/larger one
I think that's a pretty good punch list so far! Not sure what I might do next, if anything. I don't know if the tranny fluid was ever done. Not sure I want to do that since the tranny is currently happy, but maybe just draining and filling the fluid would be a good idea.
Another member of the club! The wife and I are owners for matching Buckingham Blue over Alpaca 08 Lr3's. I got mine first, it's a been a joy, rock solid, no trouble, road tripping snow bashing machine. Based on mine we got one for her with 50K less miles and it's been a proper nightmare. Right now I'm fighting a cooling fan/sensor/something problem that's driving me crazy on top of the bad diff, EPB, wheel bearings, oh and the seat blows the fuse whenever you adjust it. Hers must have been built on the Friday before a bank holiday.
Ouch! Well my original '05 has had its share of issues, most of the common stuff.....but I methodically got all those things sorted and it's been real solid for quite a while now. It helps that I only put ~2000 miles/year on it. I'm hoping the 2006 can provide good service with minimal headaches. I am expecting the normal stuff....
Look for something jamming the track of the seat. I had that issue and it was because an air horn was jammed in the track.
Probably someone trying to prank you.....seat goes back HONK!!! Hers seems to be in the recline section of the seat. As a temporary bodge I fitted a circuit breaker instead of the fuse until I can get a look at it.
His and Hers LR3's, both 2008 HSE
Here we are, picking up her LR3, formerly known as Clementine but now known as Christine. She's evil and she bites. I have scars, inside and out
