Smile New 05 LR3 Aftermarket Stereo Project

Just got my first LR3! It's an 05 HSE and I'm super excited. I have an itch to make my first big change to it.

I know it's crazy.

I know it is sacrilege.

I still want to do it.

Behold the Klyde Audio 12.8" Double Din head unit.

Video:

I haven't ordered it yet but figured instead I would ask the community if anybody has direct experience or just what I should expect? I've put stereos in cars before but it's been awhile. And nothing this complex.

I have the Logic 7 in the LR3. But no blue tooth.

Thanks for being kind! New member here and excited to meet fellow LR enthusiasts!

well, the manufacturer said they don't have a canbus interface that fits this, but I am a bit confused. Anybody know if there is a generic canbus adapter for LR3 that would work for this?

Anybody know what would happen if I installed this and didn't bother with the canbus at all? Would it work or be possible?

Do you have the in-dash 6-CD changer?

Then I would be more worried about the MOST network. Does it plug into the MOST network? You probably dont need the CAN bus hooked up the radio unless the radio can operate on the can buss at the proper speed/frequency of the LR3. You may have to install an aftermarket AMP and all that stuff too, basically you will have to build it up from speaker wiring to the head unit.

Doesn't seem like it plugs into that either...

So I guess I wouldn't be able to use the LR3's amplifier, but instead would need to swap in an aftermarket amp and connect the speakers to that?

I am ok doing this since I don't want to mess up the 4x4 info on the nav screen, etc. (I think!)

I think I could deal with that. Here is the back of the unit. I would need to remove the current amp, correct?

Thanks,

RC

Anything you remove on the MOST network would need a bypass plug. Cheap ($5) on eBay. Keep in mind certain things talk to each other over the network, so removing stuff may disable others.
