@RAJOD: My MT/Rs are the Wrangler MT/Rs from 2009, before the Kevlars came out. Yes they are aggressive...if you need something less so I'd check out the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. Also the BFG ATs.

@allroadinvail: NOKIANs are supreme in snow but I don't think you'd get much wear out of them. My next choice would be Michelin X-Ice. I have never driven them, but I have run on plenty of (other) Michelin tires and they all wear like iron.

I want the nokians for the performance in winter. they will last as long as you dont drive them on hot days.

Ill prolly get the new nokian all seasons for the rest of the year.

You are probably right....but for me, it's over 45 F probably around 9 months out of the year so I'd be stuck in the garage a lot! You could try their WRG2 tire. I believe that was more of an all-weather tire.

I was still very much intrigued by the Michelin X-Ice. I put 100k miles on each set of Michelin LTX tires I had on my old Montero and about 80k miles on the Synchrones I ran on the LR3. Tough tough tires....

Nokia has a new ALL season that is a True all season. In reviews its so good that nothing even compares to it. It beats out all other winter tires except Nokia. So its an all season that beats other brands pure winter tires.

And it won't break down like a true winter tire will in heat. About the only tire that beats it would be a summer off road tire. I really don't do much of that so its probably the perfect tire for me.

When it comes to winter-biased all-season tires, there is one clear champion, one that is simply head and shoulders above the rest. That is the Nokian WR G2, a tire so good at what it does that it really belongs in a category all by itself. In fact, Nokian gives the WRG2 their own designation of “all-weather” rather than all-season. Nokian is also a strong leader in areas like slushplaning (hydroplaning caused by wet slush), something very few other tire companies have traditionally paid much attention to. The WRG2 has snow and ice performance that is only a small step down from the very best snow tires, while retaining extremely good performance on dry and wet roads. In fact the dry road performance is good enough that Consumer Reports seems to have trouble even categorizing this tire as an all-season, putting it at the top of their “Performance Winter” category, which means that they felt it performed better than UHP (Ultra High Performance) pure snow tires such as Michelin's Pilot Alpin PA3.
