not starting

Default not starting

I am new and I have a 2003 RR that will not start. the starter and battery are new as is a key that opens the doors , but when turned from 0 to I in the ignition, sets off the alarm. Can anyone help.

Go BEAVS! (Class of '96).

So first of all you are in an LR3 section so our knowledge of the RR is limited. What I'd suggest though is doing a "hard reset" first. Remove both battery cables and connect them for 2 minutes (you can use a jumper cable for instance, pick a color and clip on the alligator teeth to each cable end).

If that doesn't work you may need to have your key re-programmed or perhaps the immobilizer is activated.

Will the key not physically go to position II and start?

Will it turn but nothing happens except for the alarm?

May be unrelated but in the LR3 the alarm sometimes goes off if you have a hood sensor go bad.
