x2 on the GAP IIDTool. Long trip not withstanding, it's a great piece of equipment to have at all times. It's as essential to have in your LR3 as a common screwdriver in any other vehicle.
Erik, good to know about the re-lo bracket. I think a layer of foam rubber between the compressor plate and the frame might help deaden the vibration. There's no way that's an unsolvable problem!
